A Fresh Approach to Education

Why Get Certified?

When you get certified through the School Food Institute, you demonstrate that you’re serious about making school food fresh, healthy, and sustainable. You gain a professional edge in the school foodservice industry. And you acquire the knowledge, skills, and strategic vision to operate top-notch school meal programs and make real change for the health of our children.

How Do I Earn a Certificate?

The first step to certification is School Food 101, which is required for every certificate level. It will teach you fundamental lessons about school food history, regulations, and how school food intersects with children’s health and social justice, as well as an overview of the operational challenges in school food.

Beyond School Food 101, you can enroll in the courses of your choice to earn your certificate. Certification lasts for three years, and you can participate in educational opportunities such as webinars and discussion forums to extend your certification.

Enrolling in a certificate program in advance allows you to take advantage of special discounted rates!
