Description
The Ingredients for Healthier Kids course supports school food professionals in prioritizing fresh, whole foods to improve student well-being. In this course, we will explore the systemic health and environmental impacts of hormones, antibiotics, pesticides, and herbicides in our food system and in school meals. You will learn how to identify and avoid harmful additives and added sugars in highly processed foods, as well as how to confidently reduce your reliance on highly processed options through scratch cooking and values-aligned procurement in school kitchens and at home. We’ll explore the benefits of whole grains and sourcing local foods while providing practical strategies for incorporating nutritious, quality ingredients into your school menus.
