Alabama Farm to School Culinary Challenge

The Alabama State Department of Education (ALSDE) Child Nutrition Programs (CNP) is partnered with the Chef Ann Foundation to provide onsite culinary training and create another twenty-four (24) student-friendly recipes featuring Alabama Harvest of the Month items. These recipes will incorporate locally grown items, USDA foods, and/or statewide bid items and will be customized to Alabama students. The ALSDE CNP aims to engage schools wanting to increase their school meal program’s scratch cooking and local procurement. Selected schools should be eager to learn new culinary skills presented by the Chef Ann Foundation and willing to incorporate the newly developed recipes into their menus.
